It's not how you arrived at the title, but what you do with it.
Hey ladies, welcome to the Single Moms United podcast, where we cannot spell united without the letter U or Y-O-U. Hey, if this is your first time joining, welcome. And for all of my repeat listeners, thank you for your loyalty. Now remember, this podcast is designed to encourage and motivate single mothers, or single moms, and to invite critical thinking, because it's not about how you arrived at the single mom title, whether by choice or by divorce, it's all about what you do with it. So I present thought-provoking content so that it'll help you think about. You know, does that make sense to incorporate in my household as I'm raising my children? Because I do recognize this is not a one-size-fits-all, but hopefully, hopefully you'll say, hmm, that makes sense. Let me think about that. Maybe I can apply this to my house, maybe I can apply this to my parenting skills and that's what this is all about. And to encourage you because it is hard how do I know that it's hard to be a being a single mom and trying to do it on your own? Because I am a single mom, I'm an older single mom, I am a single mom, I'm an older single mom, but I'm a single mom. I understand everything you're going through, and probably then some Ladies you will find value in this podcast and if you do, tell another single mom about it, because I know when I was younger and some of my friends were single moms as well, we did. We united, we shared each other's stories and pains and all of that good stuff as it related to raising our children. One thing you will not find on this podcast is baby daddy bashing. I'm not opening that door. If you were looking for to hear something about what the father isn't doing, you're not going to find it on this podcast. As a famous TV judge said, you picked him, so you're not going to find that here. Okay, all right. So for those of you that have been following me the last few weeks, you know I've been focusing on the word or the letter I and extracting word choices from that letter and applying it to parenting skills. Today, I'm going to deviate from that just a little bit. For those that may or may not know, I do enjoy writing poems. I always call myself Maya Angelou Waterdown, who is a famous poet who is now deceased. I'm motivated by her. I do poems as well. Just going to break it up a little bit for you today, ladies, and provide you with the latest poem I wrote and hopefully you will find some value and be encouraged by it. All right, here we go.
Speaker 1:As a single mom, you will have parenting doubt, but don't worry, you will figure it out. Doubt, but don't worry, you will figure it out. Parenting is nothing to be afraid of. It's going to set you above. Yes, life is going to throw you curves, and some of them you may deserve, but you have family now. You have no choice but to make your child proud.
Speaker 1:Now society will have you thinking you need public assistance until you realize it's not what you think it is, because it's all a disguise. Now don't be fooled. Thinking you can't go back to school. You're special and unique. So thinking you have to depend on someone says you may think you are weak. It's time to change your mindset so it doesn't evolve into regret. Yes, the single mom journey will make you constantly think about money. Stay focused and stay true and let God lead you.
Speaker 1:As a single mom, declare your independence, like you have already won. I encourage you to hold your head up high as you continue life's journey. Let it be through your own eyes. It's okay if you made the single mom choice or acquired the title because of divorce. Don't ever believe being a single mom is a curse. It's just your mind thinking the worst. There will be many doubters who will try and hinder your success. Just remember you are blessed. Take charge of your family. Be positive and be proud, and remember it's okay to say I'm a single mom out loud. All right, ladies, there you have it. Brief and to the point. I hope you find some encouragement through this poem. I recognize the challenges you are facing. You're going to get through it. You are, you are, you are. How do I know? I know where I was 30 years ago. I know where I am now. Have a great day, ladies. Have a fantastic month, take care.
